How My home affects who I am
The town I live in has had a huge impact on my way of life! If it weren't for the
amazing place I call home, I wouldn't be who I am today. My love for the outdoors
is thanks to the mountains, forests, and lakes in my backyard. Of course,
I would love to travel the world but I will always come back here to my home.
I was born here and I plan to stay. Eagle County is home to two amazing ski
mountains, beautiful rivers, hiking/biking trails, and some of the best people I
have ever met. I have been to New York City and felt closed in. It was a “dirty
place” to me and there wasn't a single mountain in sight. The amount of urban
landscape in New York took me by surprise as it made me realize that cities are
not for me! I have a love for photography, art, road biking, swimming, and hiking.
All of which can be done in Eagle County!  
I probably sound like a bit of a strange person coming from my generation!
Of course, I still use technology as it is part of the lifestyle of our generation from
the use of online class courses to staying in contact with friends and even this blog!
But my true happy place is when we leave the phones behind us and go camping or
even just sitting outside on the deck with my parents’ friends with a cup of soda
enjoying the sunset and talking away the night. This town holds all of my childhood
memories from learning to mountain bike and discovering I have a pure hatred for
mountain biking, (what? It’s scary!!!), playing volleyball tournaments with my dad,
cheering my mom on bike races, playing hide and seek with my friends in Riverwalk.
All in all my highs and lows were captured in a single valley and it holds a special
place in my heart.

Blog #3 My takeaway from this experience. This week went by in a blur. I tested my limits on energy in the classroom spending all my time creating a great experience for my students. After we pulled through our final day of teaching, we came home to prepare for the party. The party was very interesting and equally crazy. It started off casual as students started coming in and we greeted them. We took plenty of photos with each other and they conversed with the best English they could (I’m glad to say that their English had improved!) Then, at a particular time in the party, we told everyone that the snack bar was open which consisted of a very large assortment of chips and candies. It was at this point that kids went out of control! From across the schoolyard to the band area kids came running like this snack bar was a giant magnet. Instantly they were piling over each other grabbing as much stuff as they could and running out with multiple bags of chips shoved between their arms....

Blog #1

Hello! My name is Kyla! I am a freshman at Battle Mountain High School and currently, I am participating in a club called Spilled Ink. In Spilled Ink, we get to draw, write and do some photography. We draw many things and right now we are working on Thanksgiving themes. We are also writing poems about certain subjects. Last week, we wrote poems about vampires. One of my favourite things we do is photography and I love submitting pictures of fall! Those are some of my favourite things to do. When I'm not at school, I am hanging out with my friends or playing with my cats. I have two cats named Noodles and Pesto. Yes, I know they're named after food. It's a long story I can tell a different day. The trip I will be going on is to Morocco which is a country in Northern Africa.
